A Legacy Rooted in Science and Healing

Our story began in the late 1960s with the pioneering work of Dr. Ralph U. Sierra, the first chiropractic doctor in Puerto Rico and a visionary in biomagnetism.

For over 40 years, I have personally dedicated my work to researching, developing, and providing therapeutic magnetic products, continuing the pioneering work of my father, Dr. Ralph U. Sierra. I lead the research and development of our products, although I sometimes consult my husband, Dr. Jorge C. Jarrot, and our son Adrian and value their perspectives.

Adrian earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree but chose to continue his path in Naturopathic Science. Today, he works full-time at Health Magnetic Store & More and is involved in its daily operations. His interests are leading him toward offering care with biomagnetics and nutritional supplements, another area of knowledge passed down through the teachings of my father. He also has a strong interest in combining PEMF therapy with N-type magnets.

Our daughter, Dr. Alexandra Jarrot Sierra, provides PEMF therapy and makes magnetic products available to her patients, while our son, Dr. Jorge R. Jarrot Sierra, focuses exclusively on chiropractic care. Together, our family continues the legacy, with each person contributing in a different and clearly defined way.

Although their professional paths are different, all three of our children incorporate the use of magnetic fields into their personal and family lives. Static magnets and PEMF technology remain part of their daily wellness routines, continuing the practices and teachings passed down through our family.

Where Our Story Began

It all began in 1967. Dr. Ralph U. Sierra, then 63, was suffering from Meniere's disease and an enlarged prostate. He began research with Albert Roy Davis, applying a simple domino magnet to his ear and drinking north-polarized magnetized water.

This experience sparked a lifelong commitment to magnetic healing.

In 1969 Dr. Sierra founded the Puerto Rico Scientific Research Laboratory, which became a global hub for collaboration with scientists, doctors, and researchers from the United States, Canada, Japan, China, Australia, and more. Together, they explored the physiological effects of magnetic fields on living systems.

Throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, Dr. Sierra became an international speaker. He was featured on television and radio programs and in publications across the Americas and beyond.

He co-authored several books, including Power in a Magnet and Energía Magnética. His work was also referenced in publications such as The Body Electric and Magnet Therapy by Dr. Buryl Payne.

One of his most iconic innovations, "The Magic Bands of Dr. Sierra," was adopted by athletes worldwide. These flexible magnetic supports were handcrafted for injured joints and became the inspiration for many of today's commercial magnetic wraps.

Sadly, Dr. Sierra passed away in 1982 following a fall in 1979 that exacerbated his previously well-controlled prostate enlargement. He had been placing nails that he had magnetized into a mango tree to eliminate a termite infestation. The tree had not been producing fruit. As he climbed down, he did not see the final step and fell. Years after his accident, that same mango tree began producing sweet fruit and continues to do so today.

Carrying the Torch

In 1984, I became a Chiropractor. By 1985, I had opened my own practice using the very equipment my father left behind.

I was joined in this journey by my husband, Dr. Jorge C. Jarrot, who shared my deep interest in biomagnetism and later became a chiropractor himself. Together, we continued learning, working, and carrying forward the knowledge and practices my father had entrusted to us.

For the next 26 years, I dedicated myself fully to hands-on patient care, combining chiropractic adjustments with magnetic therapy exactly as I had been taught. Those years confirmed, again and again, the value of supporting the body rather than fighting it.

In 2010, I made the heartfelt decision to retire from chiropractic practice and shift my focus. I devoted my energy to expanding Health Magnetic Store & More, transforming it into a space for education, access, and continuity.

Through the store, I was able to reach beyond the treatment room — offering carefully selected magnetic tools, nutritional supplements, and guidance rooted in decades of experience.

Continuing Our Clinical Work

Although I retired from chiropractic practice, the clinical work continues close to home.

My husband, Dr. Jorge C. Jarrot, remains in active practice at Jarrot Sierra Chiropractic Clinic, located next to Health Magnetic Store & More in San Juan. There, he continues offering chiropractic care along with the original electromagnetic therapy approach that combines a copper coil with static magnets — an integrative method I explain in detail in my book, Beyond the Power of a Magnet.

This continuity between the clinic, the store, and our educational work reflects the living application of the philosophy we have shared for decades.

Our Philosophy in Practice

Biomagnetism is not simply something we sell or teach. It is a way of life shared by my husband, our children, and me.

My personal self-care reflects what I teach. I use static magnets daily, wear magnetic jewelry at all times, and sleep with therapeutic hand and knee supports. I also combine static magnets with PEMF therapy to support energy balance, joint comfort, and inflammation management.

My husband, Dr. Jorge C. Jarrot, also incorporates magnetic fields into his personal life and chiropractic practice. Although our three children have chosen different professional paths, each incorporates magnetic fields into their personal and family wellness routines. Their use of static magnets and PEMF technology carries forward the practices and teachings passed down through generations.

This is not a temporary practice, but a lifestyle shaped by decades of observation, experience, and trust in magnetic health.
